3 mm/US 2 and 3.5 mm/US 4 circular and double pointed needles and 2.5 mm/US 1 straight needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.

CARDIGAN

Gauge: 21 sts and 28 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm (4″ x 4″)

Pattern: See chart. One chart equals one repeat of the pattern. The pattern is shown from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette st.

Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl. Repeat from * – *.

Body: Cast on 106-116-124 (132-132-140) sts on smaller circular needles with blue and knit garter st as follows: 1 row blue, 1 row light blue, 1 row blue, 1 row light blue, 1 row blue. Change to larger circular needles and inc 4-6-10 (14-26-30) sts evenly across the 1st row. 110-122-134 (146-158-170) sts (includes 1 edge st on each side not knit in pattern). Knit Pattern 1. After Pattern 1 continue knitting with blue. When the work measures 11-12-16 (18-17-19) cm [4-3/8″ – 4.75″ – 6.25″ (7″ – 6.75″ – 7.5″)], knit the yoke as follows:

Row 1: 1 edge st, * 4-4-5 (5-6-6) sts blue, 1-2-1 (2-1-2) sts green, 8-8-10 (10-12-12) sts blue, 1-2-1 (2-1-2) sts light blue, 8-8-10 (10-12-12) sts blue, 1-2-1 (2-1-2) sts orange, 4-4-5 (5-6-6) sts blue *. At the same time, when the work measures 15-16-19 (22-21-23) cm [5-7/8″ – 6.25″ – 7.5″ (8-5/8″ – 8.25″ – 9″)], divide for armholes as follows: 28-31-34 (37-40-43) sts front, 54-60-66 (72-78-84) sts back, 28-31-34 (37-40-43) sts front. Knit the rest of each part separately from this point.

Front: 28-31-34 (37-40-43) sts. When the work measures 23-25-29 (33-36-39) cm [9″ – 9-7/8″ – 11-3/8″ (13″ – 14-1/8″ – 15-3/8″)], bind off at the neck edge every other row: 9-10-11 (12-13-14) sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2 times. Bind off when the work measures 27-29-33 (37-40-43) cm [10-5/8″ – 11-3/8″ – 13″ (14-5/8″ – 15.75″ – 16-7/8″)].

Back: 54-60-66 (72-78-84) sts. When the work measures 25-27-31 (35-38-41) cm [9-7/8″ – 10-5/8″ – 12.25″ (13.75″ – 15″ – 16-1/8″)], bind off the center 24-26-28 (30-32-34) sts for the back neck. Bind off 2 sts on each side of the neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 27-29-33 (37-40-43) cm [10-5/8″ – 11-3/8″ – 13″ (14-5/8″ – 15.75″ – 16-7/8″)].

Sleeves: Cast on 30-30-33 (36-36-39) sts on smaller double pointed needles with blue. Join, being careful not to twist the sts. Place a marker at the join and knit in garter st as for the bottom edge of the body. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit Pattern 1. After Pattern 1 continue with blue and inc 1 st on each side of the marker 10-13-12 (13-22-21) times:
Size 1/3 months: alternately every and every other row.
Sizes 6/9 months + 3/4 years: every other row.
Sizes 12/18 months + 5/6 years: alternately every other and every 3rd row.
Size 2 years: every 3rd row.
= 50-56-60 (62-80-84) sts. When the work measures 11-15-17 (19-23-26) cm [4-3/8″ – 5-7/8″ – 6.75″ (7.5″ – 9″ – 10.25″)], bind off 3 sts on each side of the marker and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Bind off for sleeve caps every other row: 4 sts 3 times. Bind off. The work measures approximately 14-18-20 (22-26-29) cm [5.5″ – 7″ – 7-7/8″ (8-5/8″ – 10.25″ – 11-3/8″)].

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 70-90 sts along the left front on straight needles with blue and knit rib for 2 cm [0.75″]. Bind off. Repeat along the right front, but after 0.5 cm [0.25″] make 5-5-5 (6-6-6) buttonholes evenly distributed on the first row (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row). Place the top buttonhole 2 sts from the top edge. Pick up approx. 74-78 sts around the neck on smaller circular needles with blue and knit rib for 1.5 cm [5/8″]. Bind off. Sew on the sleeves and buttons.


HAT

Circumference: 42-44-44 (45-46-48) cm
[16.5″ -17-3/8″ -17-3/8″ (17.75″ – 18-1/8″ – 18-7/8″)].

DROPS 3 mm/US 2 circular needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm (4″ x 4″)

Hat: Cast on 93-96-96 (99-102-106) sts on double pointed needles with blue. Join, being careful not to twist the sts. Place a marker at the join and knit in garter st as follows: 1 row blue, 1 row light blue, 1 row blue, 1 row light blue, 1 row blue. Continue in stockinette st and blue until the work measures 17 cm [6.75″]. Bind off. Divide the work into 6 parts and attach a marker for each part. Fold the hat in the center of a marker and sew the bound off edges together up to the next marker, repeat so that 3 peaks are formed on the hat. Make 3 small pompoms (approximately 4 cm [1.5″] in diameter), 1 mint, 1 orange and 1 light blue and sew them to the 3 peaks.
