Yesh, Right! I don't HAVE any "Awards & Honors" - so nominate me for something - I want one of those badge things to put here. I don't care what it is - make up your own award and give it to me. I'm not picky.

Stupidity in the News Again

Posted by thedarwinexception on April 23, 2009

It’s been a while since we’ve had an installment of “Stupidity in the News”, hasn’t it? And I have about a gig in hard drive space devoted to all the clippings people have sent me.

But you only get to look at this page if you leave a comment telling me what kind of digital camera you have, how many mega pixels it is and if it takes halfway decent pictures in low light. That’s the admission price for the day. If you can LINK to a picture you’ve taken in low light – hey you get to read this page TWICE!!!

I’m really sick of looking at camera specs, searching for “the best deal” and comparing shopping costs. I need real life recommendations.

So…..leave a comment and read away…..

OK – so what happened to bunnies and chick for Easter? Do people not do that anymore? Is it tarantulas now?

Hmmmmm……I wonder why that is? Maybe I should ask in AFCA – the people there are really smart and could probably figure this puzzler out.

Now you would have thought the sunblock and bikini would have been a clue!

I don’t think that’s what they call it on “Top Chef”.

You know, this has GOT to be targeted at newlyweds, because there’s no way anyone who has been married for ANY length of time would even consider buying this.

How bad *IS* the economy??

Well, you know…..

I wonder if the blonde’s name is Button?

I’ll have to bring this up in AFCA, too….

This doesn’t say a lot for home schooling

Is this the best name ever for an escort service or worse name ever?

… if you see this guy

….and my favorite, just because I would SOOOOO love to go to this church.

We have a Nikon D40 with 6.1 mega pixels. It takes beautiful pictures. I am not very literate with how to send a picture so I can’t…sorry. Anyway this camera can do so much, my husband is actually going to take a Nikon class in a couple of weeks. However, you can just point and shoot if you want that.

Loved the stupidity, I think the kayaker is my favorite.

I have a Polaroid 3.2 Megapixels. It’s nothing fancy but works very well and pictures are easy to download to the computer. Like Tess, I don’t know how to put it on here.

Always enjoy the crazy stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the laughs. I have an older Nikon CoolPix 950(2.11mp) with filter set for the lens and a smaller, newer (yet antique in digital terms)Nikon CoolPix 3100 (3.1mp). Both take good pics even when printed to 8 1/2 x 11. Indirect or natural low light with a tripod works best. All the cameras have more settings and mp than you will ever really need. Think about what kind of batteries and/or charger and the ease of transfering to your computer. Also whether you want a pocket size or a Digital SLR.

I have a Canon Powershot SD1100 IS, which takes GREAT pictures in low light. I was at a nighttime bonfire, and the fire was pretty low at times, but this camera took the best pictures of people. It has face recognition, and 8 megapixels, a little zoom, takes video, is easy to transfer photos to computer. I took pictures & videos at a wedding recently, and it did great outside (weather was nice) but inside in low light at a distance it didn’t do so good…mostly my fault as I couldn’t figure out the zoom. It is on the shutter button…duh. I highly recmmend it…not to expensive either. Got it from amazon i think.

I can tell you that a Konica-Minolta Dimage Z10 is a very nice little camera, and was great value for money when we picked it up 4-5 years ago. Only 3 megapixels, but that’s enough for the sort of snapshot photography most people do most of the time, and it’s very easy to use and nice to hold. I can’t say how good it is in low light conditions, but that probably doesn’t matter, since they’ve stopped making it anyway.

Hey Kim – always love your Stupid jokes! But I believe I’ve seen most of these on Jay Leno’s Monday Headlines…

I have a HP PhotoSmart 618 – 300 megapixels (the Huz says you don’t want this one!! LOL!) another one is a HP PhotoSmart 735 3.2 megapixels with 15 times zoom – great with low light! Also does video. These are older HP models so not sure if they even sell these anymore! I too don’t know how to load a picture on here…
Great to see you posting again!

Buy what Tess said. There is a package for $450 which comes with 3 lenses. It is beyond what you can get for price and capabilities. Tis’ a DSL, no waiting for recharge to take photos. Add a remote for $15 and you have more than ever wanted. It also has capabilities to take auto on the fly for moving objects. I say go for it! Free shipping, on sale now.

You know the minister’s dummy just has to be the Anti-Christ.

The minister’s dummy is obviously a gimmick used as part of the act to discuss Bible teachings in a dialogue.

The other items, many of which were brought up by Jay “The Chin” Leno, I have NO explanation for. (Like police investigating “loud puppets” in a park at night.

lol…the toilet thing cracked me up! I know an older couple who installed side-by-side sinks, which I thought was useful when preparing to go out together, but no way on the toilets!

It’s a bit late for me to tell you what camera to get. I have the 2006 version of the one you have, the Kodak Easy-Share. Back then it only had five megapixels. (The more pixels, the faster it eats batteries, but you can’t buy fives anymore.)

I’m happy enough with it as a snapshot camera. I don’t do anything more complex with it. I wish it would take a standard cable for when I lose that stupid little stand that they use for it.

Why couldn’t they make the stand reversible so you could use it as a webcam or something? I don’t need a slide show or whatever they intended it to be.

Starvation? There’s an entire field of scientific study on that. “Severe calorie restriction” seems to EXTEND life. At least it seems that way to the mice.

On the escort service name, DATY is common enough to have an acronym in the escort ads. (Dine at the “Y”)

After going thru several low cost digital cameras we finally got ourselves a Canon Rebel EOS DSLR. I love it.
