Mocking Up the Hang Tags

Posted by thedarwinexception on January 26, 2008

Thanks to everyone for their GREAT name suggestions!!  I’m definitely going to try to make some little hang tags myself – I’m going to order the die cuts that NJGill linked to – they have all kinds and they are really cheap, aren’t they?? I downloaded the templates and started mocking up a couple using my favorite name suggestions you guys offered up.

I’m tending to think that Jerry is right – the whole “KKK” thing probably isn’t a  good idea, although it is nice that if I went with that, I could have lots of monogrammed stuff. I see KKK flags and banners on eBay a lot  But I’m going to try and stay away from that. Besides, you guys came up with so many great names, I have lots to choose from.

So here are the two I started with, only because I liked these two name suggestions best. It was really easy to make something using Photoshop and the template NJGill linked to here. If you have some time and want to get creative, make a hang tag of your own with your favorite name, or improve on the ones I have started, and I’ll post them.

So let me know what you think, and campaign for your favorite name. I’m going to order the hang tags this weekend.

I liked Made in Malone the best when it was suggested. Also having “Kinder” included somehow. Reminds me of ZL, you the kinder gal, and kids. My power to the computer room dumped on me and lost creativity in suggestions due to dealing with fixing my mess….so didn’t post something of value for you. Still don’t have anything of real value.

A heads up regarding printing your tags. Remember that printer ink is usually smudgy. You may want to spray a thin coat of fixative if using it. I agree with all about a natural paper and using hemp string. Homey, natural. Prefer one color to a bunch. You can buy card stock paper and run it through the printer, tis inexpensive stuff. Actually you could cut heavy paper bags the size of paper needed and use it. Yeah, I know, they tell you not to. But I do it and never poses a problem. Also think about the cost of printing yourself (ink cartridges) versus taking the original to a copy store or using their copier and paper. May be less expensive in the long run and the print won’t smear.

ZL tag is humorous enough to chew on. Really love your doing this and putting a stamp on who you are.

And I’m being a tad directive today. Apologies if too forward with suggestions….probably still messing with my head in messing with my mess here. You are more than welcome to edit my writing.

ZOMG I L-O-V-E the “Zombie Lady Couture” tag. Absolutely love it. It’s unique, it’s funny, it’s memorable (and you can still add “Made in Malone” at the bottom if you want.)

    Cool!

    I vote for “ZLC”…IF..

Does Natasha know she is referred to as the “Zombie Lady”? If so and if she is OK with that I go for it, otherwise lady, you got some ‘splainin’ to do. I would hate to see this fragile human’s feelings hurt over such a generous and unselfish act on your part.

If you choose Zombie Lady Couture, you may want to apply for a state trademark registration. They are only $10 here in Illinois, so I can’t imagine they are much more expensive where you are. For that price, it might be kind of fun to have an official registration. I don’t think you can protect “made in Malone.”

You can order clothing labels to sew inside the outfits too.

    Hi Keeeem,

I’m back from AZ. God, traveling is hard work.

Just real quick. I think Occasions is spelled this way.

    Hi Kim!

I love, love, love the Zombie Lady Couture tag. That is too adorable. It is also different enough to be memorable, but still cute enough to be…well cute :-).

I would agree with the comment above though, and steer clear of it if it might hurt Natasha’s feelings. But really, given the very tiny bit that we (your readers) know about Natasha I think she might find it cute and humorous herself if she heard how she became known as Zombie Lady.

Love the ZL tag. Pic is awesome, but do you really want people to think YOU refer to yourself as a Zombie Lady…LOL. People who aren’t familiar with the whole ZL thing may find it abit odd to say the least. Now odd is not necessarily a bad thing at all, I like odd/different myself, but young children and old ladies just may get freaked out by it, is all. Just my opinion. I like K.I.M. with the ZL pic, Keem Creations is cute, if you want ZL connection. Or ZL thread & needle…Either way, the ZL tag should stay. Pic is a keeper.

    Kim,

It has to be Zombie Lady Couture; no doubt about it! The graphic is absolutely adorable, too.

“Zombie Lady” is cute and memorable. As if my two cents matter … we all feel a bit zombie every so often 🙂

    Kim,

Any news from ZL? Haven’t seen a new blog from you for a few days now. I hope you’re feeling alright.

I vote HomeMalone with zombie drawing.

No, She doesn’t know that’s her nom de plume – although I have a gut feeling that if I explained it to her “Look, I call you zombie lady because you were dead and rose again” – she would laugh and think it was funny and appropriate. She’s rather surprisingly ok with things like that. I’ve told her several times “Look, Lady, I think you’re fucking crazy”, and she laughs it off and says “I know, I do the things people no find normal…Oh well…”

Besides, didn’t we determine she calls me dung heap?

Yeah, maybe…Paul said the same thing “You should copyright this, or else you are going to walk into KMart and see it hanging from a line of clothes some celebrity puts out…”

You can order clothing labels to sew inside the outfits too.

Yeah, I thought about that – I actually had a page bookmarked where some crafty genius makes her own and shows you how to do it in like 5 easy steps. Oh – here you go – check this out.

Now, if one of you wants to try it and tell me if it’s as easy as she makes it look, well that would be great.

  23. Just real quick. I think Occasions is spelled this way.

Yeah, no kidding, I knew that and I changed it on the top one and then loaded the ZL one from photoshop and forgot to change that one. Occasions is one of those words I always spell wrong. “Apparently” is the other one. I always spell that wrong, too.

  24. but do you really want people to think YOU refer to yourself as a Zombie Lady…LOL.

Well, if you knew how very little I leave the house and how very seldom I get dressed, I could totally be a Zombie Lady. That’s why I liked the motto on the bottom of the tag – which is hard to read – but it says “Special Creations for Special Occasions”. It kind of fits with the fat that I don’t really make “special” clothes – just clothes. But when you are a zombie any clothing creations are “special”.

  25. Where are the rest of the pictures? Everyone’s talking about K.I.M. and Keem etc, but all I see are Made in Malone and Zombie Lady Couture.

I think those are the ones they made up in their heads.

  26. HomeMalone?

You know, I love this one. But I’m not sure if it would be construed as “Ho Malone”. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but….

March – and I tell ya, I’m missing the old girl….

Well that fucking figures. Oh well, it’s not like I’m churning out clothes here.
